1. Not everyone is on Twitter at the same time

2. Different Time Zones

3. If the majority of your Twitter followers have large followers themselves, most likely they are not seeing your tweets as they happen.

4. Test Content and Track it. May have different results at different time periods.

5. Unless you are famous, most likely large number of people arent going to your Twitter Page everyday. “Out of sight, out of mind.”

  1. The time-zone tip is really smart. Thanks!

Being relatively new to Twitter though, I balk in protest at the people that keep tweeting the same tired old link! Especially so when people try to make it *seem* like fresh content, but when I click the link I find myself at that same darn page–YET again. *grumbles* I hate feeling duped like that and will unfollow people that do it.

Does the “right” amount of tweets depend on one’s audience? Targeting people who have tens of thousands of people they are following seems dumb, if it annoys the more accessible people who are more selective on Twitter. Thoughts?

interesting point on the time zone. I agree with it, but can’t help but get annoyed like Jaya. Being new to twitter does seem to make frequent posting sort of null and void. If I don’t have many followers to speak of, and said followers are new to twitter like myself, doesn’t duplicate, frequent posting seem a bit overkill ?

Hey, Thanks for the comment… First, like i said in the video, i always delete my duplicate tweets, so if you go to my profile you won’t see two of any of them unless i miss one. Out of my 16,000 followers i average between 200-400 clicks per link, that means there are thousands who never see it due to the 5 reasons i listed. Since i don’t consider myself a spammer based upon the content i put out, i have never had a complaint, in fact i get retweeted a lot. I have put out the same link every 20 min (deleting the old one) and get new clicks every time. Again, if its for personal or spam i am against it, but for legitimate business or motives i don’t think it hurts, only helps. – Thanks for your comment, i appreciate it. – Jamie

Jaya, I agree with you, i try not to change the tweet name itself, the only reason is marketing and one catch phrase may appeal to a wider audience. I also think it depends on the content itself. I don’t spam, so the content i put out is good helpful content, also i am trying to get noticed as a business and as someone who knows what he is talking about in his field. Obviously this does not apply to personal tweets. If you watch my first video on tracking links you will see why sometimes duplicating tweets and tweeting often is important as well, mainly because it drives traffic which is important to anyone with a website. But i do think in certain cases it can be annoying and should be done properly.

To answer your question, yes.. the right amount of tweets depends on your audience, also your number of followers and your goals. It also depends on the main times Twitter traffic is heavy. I have a strategy that i use that i am going to share at some point in the near future. Hope i answered your questions, thank you so much for the comment! – Jamie

Ohhh, I see. I had forgotten about that deleting part, which makes the whole idea a lot better. Sorry about that! :) I’ll start doing that today, just to make sure that everyone sees it!

This is dead interesting because it is completely counter-intuitive if you are someone who likes to provide educational, helpful content, to then send the same stuff out lots of times.
But I can see that if you want to be educational and helpful, reaching more people with your message makes sense.
I have seen people tweeting the same message again and again within a few minutes and that just annoys me because it just fills up my home page, I stop following them pretty quick. But I can see how every hour or so for an important message would be good as long as you delete.
I am going to trial this and see how it goes for me!
    Thanks for the idea.

    Joanne,
I agree, it needs to be useful valuable content, not “whiten your teeth now” or “get rich tonight” kind of stuff. The key is 1. its spread out between other valuable tweets 2. you delete it from your profile after posting it again 3. its not spam … There are a few other keys as well, but In my own experience, not one of my 16000 followers have complained or maybe have noticed, and in the last two days because i have rotated my links i have sent over 800 people to my blog and hundreds more to other peoples blogs or websites.

The main thing is that it helps people and people want to click it. I don’t think you should do it every 5 min, i would wait a half hour, people get on and off Twitter every 20 min or so. Also, as i explained in my video, most people do not sit there and refresh their home screen or with Tweetdeck it does not refresh fast enough for everyone to see your tweets.

    Thanks for the comment,

    Jamie

I just try to tweet about the things i do privately and give information about my company – a real estate agent. Sometimes i find it hard to tweet about valuable content because your mind isn’t always so creative.

  9. Hi Jamie, thanks for the valuable info, I was actually wondering about retweeting the same link often, and I do not know yet where to delete my old tweet and why I have to do that, but I am learning, and I will keep an eye on your comments.

Thanks, that was great for a beginner like me…
    Colin.
